West Burlington Public Works powered up four pumps to remove excess water from the city’s sanitary sewer system and let it flow into the street to be carried away by the city’s storm sewers during Friday’s rainstorm. Public Works director Randy Fry recently asked the city council for money to televise the city’s sanitary sewer system, “focusing on sewer lines that have had [flooding] problems lately.” The council approved his request.
Pump locations during Friday’s rain are, Huston St. at alley between Leffler & Broadway (top left), Huston St. at alley between Broadway & Swan (top right), Mt. Pleasant St. by F&M Bank (bottom left), and Wheeler St. at alley between Leffler & Ramsey (bottom right).
